Quilt Guild day is a day I look forward to
each month. A couple of hours to get
inspired by like minded women who are
eager to teach and learn.
Today, Christina Blais, a quilter,
fabric artist, teacher and so much more,
opened her studio to us and shared with us her art.
This was her very first piece,
Mr. Sun.
Then she made,
Mrs. Moon
One of her latest creations and winner,
celebrating the 100th Anniversary
of Grand Central Station, New York City.
Every month, we have
Show and Tell.
This is Sharon's owl quilt
she is making for a donation
to the annual
Bird House Auction
put on by Project Return.
Sherri loved paper piecing and made
two pieces for her friend
who lives in Texas.
Michelle is a fabulous quilter and quilted
this wonky block quilt on her
new machine with a continual
"eight" pattern.
Suzanne loves to make small quilts.
She is hoping to be able to give these
lovely quilts to a grandchild someday...
Each month we are inspired by something
someone has shared. Last month Sharon
and I talked about our love of
paper piecing. Sharon and I put
together a small tutorial about
paper piecing and everyone made
a paper pieced heart. Easy, fun and oh so cute!
Then, who ever has made a block, puts her name
in the hat and one lucky winner takes home
all of the blocks. This month, I was
the lucky winner!!! Now, to make
something wonderful using all of the
great hearts made by our members.
Next month, we are each bringing a wonky
block using spring colors.
The following month, we are going to try and make
a swirl like this, using the process Christina
showed us, combining fiber arts
and quilting!
